ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Ministry of Science and Technology is providing mobile science labs to schools with an objective to give young students an opportunity for practical work of their science projects.

The provision is being ensured under the programme ‘Science Talent Farming Scheme (STFS)’ worth Rs 640.753 million.

The programme ‘STFS’ is among 32 new and ongoing projects having being assigned by the Science and Technology Ministry with the allocation of Rs 2427.947 million in the current Fiscal Year 2017-18.

Other projects initiated by the ministry included ‘Competitive Research Programme’ with the allocation of Rs 500 million while 256 million has been reserved for ‘Certification Incentive Programme for Small and Medium Entrepreneurs’ under the Productivity, Quality & Innovation (PQI) initiative 2025.

Likewise, an amount of Rs 129.277 has been earmarked for the establishment of PSTC for precision Mechanics and Instruments Technology at Gawadar PCSIR (CPEC Project) whereas almost Rs 100. 972 million has been allocated for construction of office building for the Ministry of Science and Technology and its departments.

In addition, Rs 100 million has been earmarked for ‘Establishment of Advanced Technology Training Center’ at Knowledge Park in Muridke.

The federal government has also reserved an amount of Rs 12.5 billion for the special programme of clean drinking water for all during the current fiscal year whereas almost Rs 3280 million has been allocated for Pakistan Remote Sensing Satellite (PRSS) Lahore (China).

Besides Rs 220 million has been reserved for Feasibility and System Definition Study (FSDS) of Pakistan Multi-Mission Satellite (Pak-Sat-MM1) (Lahore and Karachi), the projects initiated by Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO).
