ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Technology & Telecom (MoIT&T) Dr. Umar Saif visited the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Headquarters in Islamabad on Friday.
The Chairman PTA Major General (retd) Hafeezur Rehman, Member Compliance & Enforcement PTA, Dr. Khawar Sidique Khokhar, and senior officers of MoIT&T and PTA were also present on this occasion.
During the visit, senior officers briefed the IT minister about the functions of PTA, regulatory initiatives, and overall performance of the Telecom Sector.
The IT minister was informed that PTA has always facilitated thriving telecom industry of Pakistan which is providing state of the art telecom, broadband and ICT services.
The minister was also briefed about the challenges faced by the Telecom Sector and continued efforts of the regulator to address them.
Dr. Umar Saif said that to connect with the digital world, it is necessary to provide digital facilities to our people. He assured full support of the MoITT to PTA for its regulatory initiatives in ensuring continued growth of the Telecom Sector of Pakistan.
The minister appreciated the role of PTA in the uplift of telecom sector of Pakistan and emphasized the need of investment friendly policies and enabling regulatory frameworks.
Dr. Umar Saif also visited the PTA’ National Telecom Security Operations Center (NTSOC).
