It’s not a secret that Huawei is working on its own OS (Operating System), which will be updated on smartphones if the United States continues to impose its ban on Huawei. With the ban remain intact, the Chinese manufacturer will lose access to Google’s vital Android services such as the Play Store, security updates and suite of Google apps. Huawei claims that HongMeng OS (also known as Ark OS) may run faster than the OS found on rival devices. The Huawei Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Founder Ren Zhengfei admitted that it may struggle when it comes to applications.

China is doing really good this year as we see 5G technology has arrived. We’re still expecting to see foldable phones go on sale this year and not to mention the fact that there are the best Huawei phones available right now.

Difficulties while developing Ark OS app store

Developing a App Store big enough to rival Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store is not an easy task. Many firms have failed to match the sheer app volume and big names that frequent the two most well-known smartphone storefronts. In the past few years, we have seen that Windows Phone and BlackBerry OS tried, and failed, to meet the app demands of users in computation with the variety delivered by Apple and Google, while smaller operating systems have also struggled to match the big players over the years.

Huawei, no doubt, is the second largest smartphone manufacturer in the world (after Samsung), which means it has a huge user base which could be attractive to developers. But convincing them to provide a version of their applications to run specifically on the new operating system could still prove challenging, especially as it’s unproven in terms of potential revenue generation.

Walter Ji – Huawei’s President of Consumer Business Group for Western Europe, said that currently there’s “no timeline prediction for launching a device” running its own OS.
