OPPO Neo 5S Review – The affordable mid range device with better battery performance

OPPO is a very common word for the general public in terms of technology has most of us have already scene OPPO advertisement all over the city including the mobile hub of Lahore (Hall Road and Hafeez Center). But if we talk about general opinion about OPPO mobile phones then for people it’s just another Chinese mobile phone. Oh wait! If you have the same opinion then you are badly mistaken here. No doubt that OPPO is a Chinese company but OPPO is in mobile tech business for years and also hold small share in 20 countries across the globe. including Australia, Mexico, India, Malaysia, Thailand, Egypt, UAE.  Yes OPPO handsets are manufactured in China, but OPPO is globally registered, technically and preciously, OPPO is a global brand just like Huawei. OPPO is known for their quality products for high end user and that is the sole cause of price hike among OPPO smart phones.

OPPO NEO 5s was handed over to DND for trial and review so talking about my experience is that every handset of OPPO is of premium quality and A grade finishing. In this article we will be generally discussing the new OPPO release  NEO 5s.

OPPO NEO 5s  is an affordable Dual-SIM 4G LTE smart phone which costs around 19,990 rupees approx 200$. Currently the new OPPO Neo 5s comes in white and blackish blue color.  We have already shared the unboxing and general review of the handset a week ago but now we will be discussing it in depth.

Design & Build Quality

Considering the price range of this product, its solid compact build having dual layer metallic structure which makes the device solid and gives it extra strength and the corners of the phones make you grip it more comfortably.

The back cover of OPPO Neo 5s is of plastic that gives a shinny metallic look and resembles to Sony Xperia Z series. The camera and flash led are located on the top left corner.

The front of OPPO Neo 5s is just as of OPPO mobiles and it has 4.5″ IPS display with the touch panel. The only flaw in this phone is that there are no lights in touch panel which includes home, back, and menu keys.  This flaw makes it bit difficult to use in dark.

On the other hand the if you are a Samsung user then you will find it difficult to use lock and volume keys as they are located on opposite sides. The lock key is on left side while the volume keys are on left.

OPPO Neo 5S comes with 3.5mm headphone jack on the top and micro-usb port on the bottom. The plus point of the charging port is that its on right corner which makes it easy to use handset even if you have plugged the charger.

Framework and CPU

OPPO NEO 5s comes with 1GB ram but the operations of the phone is as smooth as you are using a phone with 2gb of ram. NEO 5s is equipped with quad core 1.2ghz (64 bit) snapdragon 410 CPU and the Andreno 306 GPU which makes it different from other Chinese phones as they are using Mediatek processors which are quite lagy and have poor battery consumption. The gaming experience is quite good on this handset and the performance is not bad at all except that 3d graphics have very low fps on it.

User Interface

OPPO Neo 5s  is loaded with ColorOS. ColorOS is OPPO’s default skin for the Android Operating system. The amazing factor of this midrange affordable phone is a 8MP primary loaded with Pure Image 2.0+ technology along with 2MP front cam which makes the camera quite better than those phones having the same price range. Our own experience is that Neo 5s camera is better than Nexus 4 or Samsung Grand camera.

Wrap up

OPPO has recently launched their budget phone Neo 5s in Pakistan with a tremendous sales turn over, as claimed by the officials of OPPO. OPPO Neo 5S is a budget phone which costs around 19,990 rupees. Neo 5s has a lot of potential to capture the low end Pakistani market.

Neo 5s comes up with f/2.2 lens with different shooting modes by Default. The modes includes Beauty Shot, HDR, Expert shot etc. The Secondary camera is 2MP which would have been better keeping the motive behind the launch of budget phone. Overall the front Camera is not that good as it could have been. The shots will be shared soon.

OPPO New 5s is an incredible piece of tech, and also have some flaws but it is a good replacement to Samsung Grand Prime if the price is concerned.
