ISLAMABAD: The Chief Justice of Pakistan Tassaduq Hussain Jillani is retiring today (Saturday) at the age of 65 years after serving more than 10 years as judge and Chief Justice of the apex court.

Justice Jillani served about seven months as top judge of the apex court. He also served as acting Chief Election Commissioner, prior to assuming the charge of the chief justice.

Justice Nasirul Mulk has already been appointed as new Chief Justice of Pakistan as per seniority rule and will take oath of office for 13 months tomorrow (Sunday).

President Mamnoon Hussain will administer the oath to the newly appointed chief justice.

Justice Mulk belongs to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Swat district. He was born on August 17, 1950 and completed his degree of Bar-at-Law from Inner Temple London and was called to the Bar in 1977.
