Tashkent, Uzbekistan: A new terminal for passengers of international flights has been opened at Tashkent International Airport named after Islam Karimov, the Uzbek airline said on Monday.

The terminal is built on the foundation of an old building and has a capacity of up to 1,200 passengers per hour. The new building is 1.5 times larger than the older terminal and will only work for the reception of passengers.

The terminal has new engineering and technological equipment and “Green” and “Red” Lines are included with four luggage strings with a length of 60 meters, 24 passport control points, a visa support point, two currency exchange offices, two Duty Free shops and two cafes.

The new building provides for the use of telescopic gangways. There is an open Wi-Fi network and kiosks selling SIM-cards.

The time for passing passport control will be reduced from 20-30 minutes to 7-10 minutes for each person. The time of delivery of baggage from the aircraft to the luggage tape will be 10 minutes. Thus, incoming guests and citizens of Uzbekistan will be able to complete all formal procedures at the airport in 20-30 minutes.

On the station square, there are gazebos, a canopy for those who meet and a beautiful fountain. Near the terminal there is a bus stop and parking for private cars. Right at the exit from the building there is a taxi area.

It is worth recalling that the old building of local airlines, designed for the departure and arrival of passengers, was built in 1997. Its total area initially was about 4,800 square meters (now 9800), and the capacity was 300 passengers per hour. In 2012, after the launch of the new terminal Tashkent-3, the building was decommissioned.
