Taliban do not want to enforce Shariah at gunpoint: Imran

ISLAMABAD: The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) does not want to enforce Shariah in the country at gunpoint, rather it wants to liberate it from the US war.

   

These remarks were made by the Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan while talking to media representatives in Islamabad on Thursday before leaving for the Supreme Court to appear in a case against the appointment of Chaudhry Qamar Zaman as the Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The PTI chairman said that initial talks between the Taliban and the government committees have been successful. He said that the negotiations have made a clear distinction which Taliban groups desire peace and which do not.

Imran expressed the hope that the talks process will succeed.

In reply to a question, Imran Khan said that extension in ceasefire is imperative to achieve lasting peace.
