ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A 12-member delegation of Afghan Taliban led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar arrived at the Foreign Office in Islamabad on Thursday to hold talks with the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

In the delegation level talks at which both sides agreed on the importance of early revival of the Afghan peace process, the Afghan Taliban delegation hailed Pakistan’s facilitator role in the peace process.

   

In his remarks, Shah Mahmood Qureshi emphatically stated that Pakistan will continue to sincerely play the role of facilitator to make the Afghan peace process successful. He stressed that revival of the peace process is important to pave the way towards durable peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The foreign minister said that war is no solution to any problem. He said that dialogue is the only way forward for peace in Afghanistan.

Qureshi said that Pakistan has sincerely played the role of facilitator in the Afghan peace process. He said that a peaceful Afghanistan is imperative for regional peace and stability.

In addition, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that instability in Afghanistan is adversely affecting both Pakistan and Afghanistan. He said that the world is now also endorsing Pakistan’s stance on Afghanistan.

Earlier, the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Senior Officials welcomed the 12-member Afghan Taliban delegation as it arrived at the Foreign Office as part of efforts to end impasse in Afghan peace talks.
