LAHORE/HYDERABAD: With most of the rivers playing havoc in Punjab, 50 more villages in the province inundated on Tuesday as flood poses threat to Multan city.

Sindh province is also witnessing the same situation where swollen river Indus flooded over a dozen villages in Kashmore, Kandhkot and Khairpur areas.

   

Jehlum, Ravi, Chenab and Sutlij rivers are flowing in high flood. Reports said over 50 villages came under water in Jhang district. The floodwaters have inundated hundreds of acres of agriculture land in the area.

The local administration was moving people to safer places, issuing warning for them to evacuate homes. Army is also assisting the district administration in relief and rescue activities.

Over five hundred villages have been inundated in Multan, Jhang, Chiniot and Kamoke region owing to high floods in Chenab river as floods started threatening more Multan city.

In River Indus, the high flood peak has entered Guddu Barrage in Sindh. The local authorities have claimed that all protective bunds have been fortified.

The flood waters have inundated thousands of acres of agriculture land in the Katcha areas of Sindh, inundating scores of villages in Kashmore, Kandhkot, Khairpur, Nawabshah and Dadu region, with people for Katcha areas leaving their homes for safer places due to rising flood waters.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said on Monday that some 111 people have lost their lives in floods across Pakistan.
