CHRISTCHURCH: Pakistan will face West Indies on Saturday in a Pool B match of the ICC Cricket World Cup at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.

The match is scheduled to begin at 03:00 am Pakistan Standard Time (PST).

Both sides are desperate to get points on the board after they lost their first matches. Pakistan lost to India by 76 runs at the Adelaide Oval on February 15 while the West Indies were upset by Ireland at Saxton Oval in Nelson on February 16.

“This is an important game, and both teams need to win. We know that,” the Pakistan cricket team captain Misbah-ul Haq said on Friday.

“We can’t let our defeats get us down. Obviously we lost a game against Ireland. It was a tough loss, but if we get ourselves down, it’s hard to pick ourselves up so we are trying to keep the mood going,” the West Indies captain Jason Holder said.

“What is clear for us is if we execute our plans and we carry out what we want to do we know we can be very successful so it’s just about consistency,” Holder added.
