ABU DHABI, UAE: Pakistan beat West Indies in the third one day international (ODI) by 136 runs at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, completing another whitewash following a 3-0 T20 series win.
Pakistan has also joined the 8th-nation group which will directly qualify for 2019 World Cup in England.
While batting first Pakistan put 308 runs on the board in stipulated 50 overs for the loss of 6 wickets. The Captain Azhar Ali scored 101 runs while young Babar Azam also completed his third successive century, becoming the third Pakistani after Zaheer Abbas and Saeed Anwar who achieved this milestone.
Babar Azam scored 360 runs in this series, most by anyone in a three-match ODI series.
In reply to Pakistan’s 308 runs, West Indies was all out for just 172 runs. For Pakistan, Muhammad Nawaz took 3 wickets, Wahab Riaz took 2 while Imad Wasim, Sohail Khan and Shoaib Malik bagged 1 wicket each.
The right-arm fast bowler Sohail Khan was included in the squad for today’s match, replacing Muhammad Amir who had returned Pakistan to see his ailing mother.
Earlier, West Indies had also been defeated in all three matches of T20 series by Pakistan. Now the two sides will take on each other in three Test matches, starting on October 13.
