CHRISTCHURCH: The first match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 is being  played between New Zealand and Sri Lanka at Hagley Oval in Christchurch, Australia.

The match which was scheduled to begin at 03:00 as per Pakistan Standard Time (PST) is now streamed live on PTV Sports. If we  compare  Sri Lanka and Zealand then we can say New Zealand is in better form and alsonamong the World Cup favorites.

Previously in five recent one-day internationals (ODIs), New Zealand was able to win four matches and was defeated only in one game whereas Sri Lanka won only two ODIs and lost in rest of the games.

“We believe we are a good cricket team and we believe we have a chance in this World Cup but … there are some good teams around as well and we’re going to need things to fall in our favor,” New Zealand captain BB McCullum said in a statement.

“It’s going to be a fresh series for us, it’s the start of a World Cup and we’ve put everything else under the carpet and we’re just trying to be positive,” the Sri Lankan captain AD Mathews said while commenting on the recent series loss against New Zealand

Moscow says it won’t allow US to silence UNSC on Israeli violence against Palestinians Monitoring Desk: Russian envoy in United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said that the UN Security Council should bring peace, stability and prosperity to the Middle East and Russia would not allow United States to silence UNSC over the issue of Gaza crisis. According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
