SportsPSL Sixth Team must be named after Multan: Ali Tareen

MULTAN, Pakistan: The owner of PSL Sixth Team Ali Khan Tareen has sought suggestions from the people to name his team in the forthcoming fourth Edition of franchised-based Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Ali Tareen won the franchise rights for the PSL Sixth Team by paying US $5.2 million in a bid held on November 20.

“Please send in your suggestions. The person whose suggestion we accept will be invited to watch a match with us and will get a big jhappi (optional),” Ali Tareen said in a twitter message on Saturday.

Last year Multan Sultans vied for the title under the Captaincy of Shoaib Malik but ended at fifth position. Later the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) terminated the contract with Schon Properties Broker LLC, the owner of Multan Sultans, over their inability to meet its financial obligations.

Reference to re-naming Multan Sultans, Ali Tareen said that they would ‘keep the name of Multan. But we can change ‘Sultans’.

“Glad to announce that the PSL will once again have a team from South Punjab! IA we will develop local players, grounds & leagues across the region. And bring South Punjab cricket back to its former glory!,” he said.

Tareen also expressed gratitude to the people for their best wishes and prayers for him.

“Id like to thank all my friends from South Punjab who were sending in their wishes & prayers. Im grateful to all of you and my hope is for all my fellow #SouthPunjabis to consider this their team, whether in Pakistan or abroad. This is the team for all of us #SouthPunjabis,” he added.
