ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: As all praises are pouring in from around the world for Pakistan Team especially Babar Azam, Prime Minister Imran Khan has also felicitated Pakistan Captain for leading the side and posting a historic performance in the second Test match against Australia in Karachi.
In the Karachi Test match, Pakistan survived an imminent defeat against Australia and ended the match in a draw.
“Congratulations to Babar Azam for leading the Pakistan team in a tremendous fightback with a superb captain’s inning & world class batting display; & congratulations to the rest of the team too in the way they fought back, especially Rizwan & Shafique,” Prime Minister Imran Khan wrote on Twitter on Thursday.
“Unfortunately I could not watch this match as I am fighting on another front against match fixing where huge amounts of money are being used to lure my players!,” Imran Khan further wrote.
With 97 for 2 in their second innings, Australia declared and put Pakistan to bat for the fourth innings, setting a target of 506 runs in 172 overs.
Seemingly a mammoth task was impossible to accomplish as even surviving a top quality Australian attack for 5 sessions on a surface which was offering spin and low bounce was extremely difficult.
However, Pakistan though lost 2 early wickets for just 21 runs but later, Abdullah Shafique, Babar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan posting 96, 196 and 104 runs respectively enabled the side to avert the defeat.
