ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday congratulated veteran batsman Younis Khan who completed his 10,000 runs in his Test career, becoming the first Pakistani Cricketer to achieve this milestone and the 13th World Player.

In a statement, the prime minister said that the nation was proud of this achievement.

The prime minister termed it a testament to the talent and hard work of Pakistani Cricketers.

The 39-year-old Younis Khan attained the milestone while batting in first innings of Pakistan against West Indies in first Test of three-match series at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica on Sunday.

Prior to the first Test against West Indies at Jamaica, Younis Khan had appeared in 115 Test matches for Pakistan in which he had scored 9,977 runs with an average of 53.06.

In his 208th innings of his 116th Test match, Younis Khan scored 58 runs. His highest score in Test Cricket is 313 runs.

Younis Khan has already announced that the West Indies tour will be his last International Series for Pakistan as a Player.

Meanwhile in reply to West Indies’ first inning score of 286 in first Test, Pakistan on Day 3 scored 201 for the loss of 4 wickets. Apart from fifty of Younis Khan, the Young Babar Azam also scored 72 runs.
