SportsIndia can't be trusted for commitments: Javed Miandad

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Legendary batsman Javed Miandad believes India has proven that it cannot be trusted when it comes to commitments saying first creating all the drama of the Pak-India series itself and then backing out shows it all.

According to media reports, the Indian government has said that it is not in favor of a Pakistan-India cricket series even at a neutral venue like Sri Lanka. But however the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Anurag Thakur has said that the board had not received any official word from the government.

Talking to media, Miandad said BCCI officials had been continuously changing their stance on the matter and they might again back out at any moment.

“First the Indian board said they were ready to play the series and when the PCB got the government’s approval the BCCI officials started hyping that they required their government’s permission and now this type of news comes from the Indian media.

“One can see what kind of India’s attitude is towards the series. It is always India that has created problems for cricketing ties between the two countries,” he said adding it is only our government which has shown big heartedness to allow Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the series.

He said the PCB should not rush into any arrangements for the Pak-India series unless and until it gets any commitment from the BCCI in written.

Speaking about the cricket affairs, Miandad urged the selectors to monitor the domestic games for talented players.

“By picking up players for one or two matches and then discarding them shatters their confidence,” he added.
