Having broken an 82-year-old record of taking fastest 200 Test wickets, leg spinner Yasir Shah Continues to receive applause and appreciations from the worldwide audience including from Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The 32-year-old Yasir Shah, who hails from Swabi District of Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtukhwa Province, took his 200th Test wicket when he trapped New Zealand’s middle-order batsman William Somerville leg before wicket at Abu Dhabi on Thursday.

“Congratulations to Yasir Shah who broke an 82 year old record held by an Australian & became the fastest bowler to reach the 200 test wickets’ milestone in just 33 matches,” Imran Khan said in his felicitation message to Yasir Shah on Twitter on Friday.

Earlier in the second Test against New Zealand at Dubai, Yasir Shah picked up 14 wickets, leveling Imran Khan’s record of taking same number of wickets in 1982 against Sri Lanka.

“Last week he had equaled my record of 14 wickets in a test match. Stellar performance,” Imran Khan said.

Prior to Yasir Shah, Australia’s Clarrie Grimmett held the record of taking fastest 200 Test wickets, which he made in his 36th Test match against South Africa at Johannesburg on February 15, 1936.

The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
