Special court orders production of Musharraf’s medical report

ISLAMABAD: A three-member special court on Monday gave exemption to former President Pervez Musharraf from appearance from today’s proceedings in the high treason case and ordered to produce medical report of Pervez Musharraf at 11:30am tomorrow.

A three-member special court headed by Justice Faisal Arab and comprising Justice Tahira Safdar and Justice Yawar Ali resumed the hearing of the case against Musharraf who is facing treason charges under article 6 for suspending, subverting and abrogating the constitution, imposing an emergency in the country on November 3, 2007 and detaining judges of the superior courts.

Later talking to media persons outside the special court, the prosecutor Barrister Akram Sheikh said that no medical papers were produced before the court regarding ailment of Pervez Musharraf till to date.

Akram Sheikh said that in his opinion, the former president should not leave the country till the verdict in the case is announced. He said that Pervez Musharraf is using a respected institution.

The former president was rushed to the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) in Rawalpindi on Thursday after he suffered heart problem while en route towards the special court hearing the treason case against him.
