An India’s Paramilitary Force Female Officer has hurled startling allegations that women are being sexually abused in the force, reports DND News Agency.

“Women are inducted in the army only for sexual pleasure,” Karuna Jeet Kaur, the Deputy Commandant of the Indo-Tibet Border Police (ITBP) said in an interview.

Karuna Jeet, who has now resigned from the force, said that she had joined the para military five years ago and was stationed at the North West Frontier Chandigarh. She said that they were deployed to the Eighth Battalion in Uttarakhand for a month in May 2019, from where they were sent to the front, one of which was the Millari Post, where one of the battalions was stationed between June 9-10.

The Deputy Commandant said that therein, a constable forced into her room and tried to sexually assault her”.

According to her, the constable said that I have not touched a women for two years, she said that he was constantly repeating these words. She further added that “If a constable can hold the hand of a deputy commandant and commit such act, you can pretty much gauge the honor of the other women in the force,”.

Karuna Jeet said that neither the commandant officer of the battalion nor the top officers of the force took any satisfactory action after the incident. She said that she herself lodged an FIR at the Joshima police station and the matter is now in the court.  She said that women in the para-military force are recruited only for sexual gratification.

The former deputy commandant alleged that she was also threatened by the DIG and harassed in various ways before being sent on a month-long leave. She said that she had to be in the discipline of the force as she was in the force and because of this the truth could not be revealed.

Karuna Jeet Kaur said that when I used to wear the uniform I thought of myself as a solider, genderless, but the society did not accept that. She said that I request the state that we should come together and respect women because if we do not do that there is no use of women prospering in our society.
