US concerned over violence along Pakistan-India border

WASHINGTON: The United States has said it has been “extremely concerned” over violence along the Pakistan-India Working Boundary and the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir, says a reports published on Radio Pakistan on Tuesday.

In a statement, a senior State Department official said that Washington urges both the sides to resume dialogue to resolve tensions for peace in the region.

The official recognized that Pakistan’s ongoing military operations in North Waziristan have significantly disrupted militant activities and resulted in important seizures of weapons and improvised explosive device (IED) materials.

Indian troops again resort to cross border firing

Meanwhile, the Indian border security force again resorted to unprovoked firing on Working Boundary in Zafarwal sector last night, according to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

A press release issued by the ISPR on Tuesday states that Pakistan Rangers befittingly responded to the Indian firing.

Earlier on Monday, the National Assembly was informed that the Indian border forces committed 243 unprovoked ceasefire violations along the LoC and Working Boundary last year.

In his written statement during question hour, the minister for foreign affairs said that Indian forces committed 71 ceasefire violations including 30 on the LoC and 32 on the Working Boundary in October 2014.
