KABUL: The Afghan President Hamid Karzai has ordered a full investigation into the firing incident in eastern Afghanistan that left a foreign female journalist dead and the other seriously injured, the Afghan president’s office said in a statement.

On Friday, an Afghan police commander shot dead a German-based AP photographer Anja Niedringhaus, and seriously injured another Canadian-based AP journalist Kathy Gannon inside a police district headquarters in Afghanistan’s eastern province of Khost.

The Afghan president’s office further said that “Karzai was grieved” by the incident.
