South AsiaIndian troops deliberately targeting innocent civilians: Pakistan army

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of Pakistan army on Monday said Indian troops were deliberately targeting innocent civilians including children along the Line of Control (LoC).

Talking to the Indian DGMO when the two armies established a special hot line contact, Pakistani DGMO protested on recent deliberate targeting of innocent civilians along the LoC, resulting into civilian casualties.

Pakistani DGMO said such deliberate actions were serious concern and violation of 2003 agreement, according to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

On allegation of targeting of civilians by Pakistan army, DGMO of Pakistan army clarified that Pakistan considered people living across the LoC as their brethren and Pakistan army as a professional force had never done that.

Recently, Indian border forces re-intensified their firing and shelling along the LoC which resulted in multiple casualties of innocent civilians.

This year so far, over 1,150 ceasefire violations have been carried by Indian forces resulting in the martyrdom of 49 civilians and injuries to 165.

However Pakistan has continuously been urging India to exercise constraint and respect the 2003 ceasefire agreement. In addition, Pakistan has multiple times asked India to investigate the unabated ceasefire violations along with permitting the United Nations Military Observers group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to visit the Occupied Kashmir valley.
