South AsiaIndian police lodges fake FIR against protesting Muslims in Bihar

AURANGABAD, India: After the Kashmiris, the Indian Muslims are now also continuing to face oppression at the hands of law enforcers as not only they are being marginalized in the so-called secular Country through the imposition of controversial laws but also subjected to fake litigations if any of them resort to register a protest.

One of such incidents has well been reported by the Indian news outlet “Firstpost”, which exposed the malafide tactics adopted by the police to subjugate Muslims after they protested against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Aurangabad Town of the Indian Eastern Bihar State on December 21, 2019.

The news outlet carried a detailed story that how the Aurangabad police raided Muslim-dominated areas following an anti-CAA protest at Ramesh Chowk in search of protesters, bullied and manhandled even women.

The report stated that the police apprehended 46 accused over charges of fueling a violent protest and torturing shopkeepers, and filed a First Information Report (FIR); however, no impartial probe was carried out and even the FIR was filed with loopholes.

It stated that description of arrests made following the protest was riddled with ambiguity and no real witness was questioned. But when approached, the police officials merely termed these as allegations and declined to spell out the details of the investigation.
