South AsiaIndia warns Pakistan against executing Kulbhushan Jadhav

NEW DELHI, India: The Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday said that New Delhi would “go out of the way to save him (Kulbhushan Jadhav)”, an Indian Navy Officer who was awarded death penalty a day ago by Pakistan for espionage.

“I would caution the Pakistan government to consider the consequences for our bilateral relationship if they proceed on this matter,” Sushma Swaraj said in a statement in the Indian Upper House of Parliament ‘Rajya Sabha’.

Sushma Swaraj called Kulbhushan Jadhav a son of India, said that there is no evidence of any wrongdoing by Kulbhushan Jadhav.

“This is an act of premeditated murder,” she said according to Indian media.

On Monday, a Pakistani Military Court awarded death sentence to the Indian Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) agent and serving Naval Officer Kulbhushan Yadav for carrying out espionage and sabotage activities against Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh also strongly condemned the death sentence awarded to Kulbhushan Jadhav by Pakistan, and said that “we will do everything possible to get justice” for him.

“All the norms of law and justice were disregarded by Pakistan,” Rajnath Singh said today referring to the violations of the Geneva Convention.

Rajnath Singh said that Kulbhushan Jadhav wasn’t even given consular access despite India asking Pakistan for it as many as 13 times.
