Monitoring Desk: India has gifted a consignment of 10 tonne of essential life-saving medicines to Sri Lanka, in view of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, reports, The Island Newspaper from Colombo Sri Lanka.

According to newspaper, medicines were requested by the Government of Sri Lanka and were sent via an Air India Special Charter flight.

It may also be recalled that a SAARC Leaders Video Conference was held on March 15, 2020 to discuss ways to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and India also pledged US$ 10 million to the SAARC COVID-19 Emergency Fund while Pakistan announced $3 million contribution to the Fund to deal with the COVID-19 outbreak in South Asia.

Subsequently, a Video Conference of health professionals in SAARC countries was held on March 26, 2020.
