LAHORE: A fierce fire broke out in the building of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Thursday, engulfing several floors where over a dozen people were trapped.

Authorities said three people, who jumped off the on-fire building, were killed.

With five fire brigade vehicles and a helicopter, the rescue teams made hectic efforts to extinguish the blaze and save the life people who managed to reach top floors of the building.

The fire, which erupted on second floor of the multi-storey building, spread to other floors within half-an-hour.

Preliminary reports suggest the incident took place when an electricity generator inside the building caught fire.

The fire was controlled after three hours of efforts.
