PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The government has expedited compensation process among the earthquake victims of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where heirs of 222 dead, 362 injured and 12296 owners of damaged houses were provided amount under PM Compensation Package.

The PDMA officials told media that till today (Monday) against 227 total deaths in the October 26 earthquake heirs of 222 deceased were compensated as Rs six lakh was given per each deceased.

Against total 1506 injured, compensation to 362 were provided besides 12296 owners of damaged houses against total 97071 destroyed structure in the natural calamity in KPK.

The PDMA officials said compensation to heirs of dead victims in the worst hit Shangla, Chitral, Dir Upper, Kohistan Upper, Buner, Charsadda, Peshawar were completed where heirs of all 49, 33, 16, 13, 8, 5 and eight dead were provided cheques with Rs six lakh each per dead respectively.

As many as 34 dead out of 36 in Swat, 24 out of 25 in Dir Lower, 15 out of 16 in Torghar, all five dead in Mardan, one in Nowshera, two in Malakand, three dead in Swabi, two out of three dead in Kohistan Lower, two in Manshera, one dead in Hangu and one in Tank get compensation till today.

As many as 85 injured out of 184 total wounded in Shangla, 60 injured against 200 in Chitral, 78 against 253 in Swat, 43 out of 248 in Dir Lower, 14 against 162 in Dir Upper, seven out of 25 in Kohistan Upper, 16 out of 117 in Buner, 17 against 165 in Peshawar, all eight each injured in Charsadda and Mardan, one out of 17 in Nowshera, alls even in Malakand, all six injured in Swabi, three out of 27 in Kohistan Lower, one in Tank and all eight in Batagram were provided compensation cheques.

Out of 97071 damaged houses, the government has provided compensation to 12296 owners till today. The PDMA officials said as per damaged assessment survey, compensation is being provided to quake victims as per the government approved policy.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif during his visit to Peshawar on October 28 last has announced Rs 0.6 million for each dead, Rs100,000 for minor injured and Rs two lakh for disabled in the earthquake.

The PM has also announced Rs 0.2 million for each owner of completely destroyed houses while Rs 100,000 million each for the partially damaged houses. The PDMA officials said 495 buildings of schools including 234 in Upper Dir, 151 in Buner were damaged in the October 26 earthquake in KPK.
