LAHORE, Pakistan: The Punjab Minister for Agriculture Dr Farrukh Javed has said that the provincial government is focusing to provide the best profit to farmers with least possible input cost.
He urged farmers to adopt agricultural practices with rapidly changing global climate.
He was addressing the media after visiting stalls of national and multinational companies at Agriculture Expo 2016 at Expo Centre on Wednesday.
He said the Punjab Chief Minister had recently announced Farmer Package of Rs 100 billion. He said: “We will ensure its transparent distribution among farmers at any cost.”
The minister said the government was giving subsidy of Rs 22 billion to farmers for providing low-price electricity at a flat rate of 10.35 per unit.
He said all stakeholders should come forward for the development of the agriculture sector with efforts of the government.
More than 40 national and international companies participated in the two-day agriculture conference.
Earlier, Dr Farrukh Javed visited different stalls set up in the exhibition and praised efforts to train farmers regarding latest developments in this sector.
