LAHORE, Pakistan: The Punjab Government and Department for International Development (DFID) UK, have agreed to enhance collaboration for expanding scope of social programmes in future. 

This was stated by the provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resources, Raja Ashfaq Sarwer after a meeting with DFID representative Ben French here at his office on Friday.

Matters relating to Pak-UK bilateral relations came into discussion.

The Minister said the programs in education, health and skill development sectors were running successfully with the cooperation of the DFID in Punjab.

He said implementation of these programmes had yielded positive results and a considerable improvement was being witnessed in these sectors.

Raja Ashfaq Sarwer said that work would continue for the betterment of the social sector with cooperation of the DFID in future as well.

DFID representative Ben French said the UK government fully supported the welfare-oriented policies of Punjab government in different sectors of life.

He said the DFID was a partner of the Punjab government in different socio-economic development programs, including Education Sector Reform Roadmap as well as Educational Endowment Fund as the DFID authorities were impressed by transparent and merit based policies of the provincial government.

Ben French said the DFID would further extend its cooperation with the Punjab government in different development sectors to improve the literacy rate.
