SocialPervaiz Rasheed lauds religious scholars role in fight against terrorism

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rasheed on Wednesday lauded the role of religious scholars in war against terrorism.

Addressing the “Paigham-e-Islam conference” organized by Pakistan Ulema Council here he said that the Ulema had taken the responsibility to fight terrorists for which they deserved congratulations.

He said that joint declaration of the Message of Islam conference was need of the hour as terrorism had become an international issue. He said that Islam was a religion of peace and believed in a peaceful coexistence but the terrorists had distorted its image.

The minister said that before terrorism incidents, Islam enjoyed respect all over the world and it was spreading in all parts of the world.

Similarly when a new regulation was made, Muslims used to tell the world with pride that this regulation was formed by the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him).

He said that in such circumstances the Ulema had to play key role in restoration of true image of Islam.
