ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) would launch awareness campaign in order to highlight basic issue and challenges faced by growers particularly small farmers in country.
The campaign aims at promoting modern agriculture practices to enhance per acre crop output for maximizing farmer’s income to reduce poverty from rural areas, said Director General Public Relation PARC, Sardar Mustafa.
In a statement on Saturday, he said that to make the activity more affective and result-oriented, small farmers, policy makers, development partners and other stakeholder would also be mobilized.
He said that farmers would be introduced with latest cultivation technologies, research methodologies and crops disease management to achieve maximum crop output from small land holdings.
He said that PARC had introduced large number of crop varieties including wheat, rice, maize and also was working in livestock sector and making all out efforts for delivering new techniques and ideas at doorsteps of farmer.
The exercise, he said would also help to convey the research results at grassroots level to uplift and development of agriculture sector across the country.
New varieties of crops introduced by PARC has helped farmers in boosting up agri-output and reducing poverty from the country, he added.
DG, PR also urged media to play its role for highlighting issues and challenges faced by the agri-sector of the country and to enhance the outreach of research work for prosperity of the country.
He also urged for disseminating the research and modern technology to small farmers to get more production for achieving self-sufficiency in agriculture produces.
