ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) has begun the process for appointment of writers abroad as focal persons, aimed at developing better coordination with scholars and artists living abroad.
It was told by the PAL Chairman Professor Dr. Muhammad Qasim Bughio on Thursday while talking to the state-run news agency in Islamabad.
The Chairman PAL said Pakistan Academy of Letters would appoint writers as focal persons in various Countries for promotion of Country literature. He said the decision was taken by the Board of Governors, Pakistan Academy of Letters.
Qasim Bughio said in this regard, interested Pakistani writers residing in various Countries could contact with PAL on email: chairman@pal.gov.pk.
The Chairman said Pakistani communities residing abroad mostly organized literary activities but there were no coordination.
Established in July 1976 an autonomous non-profit organisation, Pakistan Academy of Letters mainly focuses on Pakistani literature and related fields.
The PAL not only preserves Pakistan’s rich heritage of literature with multi-lingual diversity but also promotes and develops it by projecting it at various forums at home and abroad.
The PAL also looks after the welfare of the writers, poets and scholars and provides them with essential support and encouragement in Intellectuals pursuits.
