ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) – the country’s leading exploration and production (E&P), is providing free healthcare services in its all operational areas spreading over all the four provinces.

“We firmly believe that primary healthcare is an absolute pre-requisite for sustainable socio-economic development,” a senior official of the company told APP.

Under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, he said, OGDCL had enhanced funds for dispensaries where free medicines were provided to all patients besides maternity and healthcare services to female patients.

Elaborating the company’s healthcare services, the official informed that OGDCL had purchased two fully equipped ambulances at a cost of Rs 3.980 million each and handed over to Taluka Hospital Daharki, District Ghotki and Taluka Hospital Tando Adam, District Sanghar of Sindh.

He said the company was also launching regular awareness campaigns about diabetes, which was considered one of the major reasons of morbidity and mortality throughout the world.

Besides, OGDCL recently held free eye treatment camps at 13 different locations of Sindh and Punjab including Qadirpur, Sinjhor,Tando Alam, Hundi/Sari, Kunner, Bobi, Kot Adu, Dhodak, Fimkassar, Rajian, Nandpur, Sadqal and Kallar Syedan where access to doctors or healthcare facilities was not easy.

At these camps, he said, 9,313 patients were treated, adding that eye-glasses were distributed among 4,778 patients and 1,352 patients were operated.

It also held three eye camps at Nashpa, Chanda and Kohat of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and provided eye glasses to 1,527 patients and performed 196 surgeries.

The company, he said, had constructed a Social Welfare Dispensary at Chak Naurang at a cost of Rs 3.359 million.
