ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Islamabad Police have decided to launch campaign for promoting friendly culture with public and encourage them to visit police station without any reluctance in case of any problem to them.

Police source said that elimination of traditional `thana culture’ is on the top priority and people would be asked through this campaign to visit police station without any fear for sharing their problems.

It is still a misfortune that even during this modern age, he said the general public feel sense of insecurity to visit a police station either for sharing of their problems or to face any criminal proceedings in which they are involved accidently.

In order to eliminate this concept rom the mind of general public, the source said that a campaign is being launched within Islamabad Capital Territory.

Following this campaign, educated as well as well behaved male/female staff will be deployed at police stations to deal with the general public.

It is hoped that fruitful results will be achieved following this campaign, he added.

About making Islamabad Police professional, the source said that officials showing better performance are being appreciated with commendation certificate and cash rewards whereas, on the other hand, if anyone is found involved in the malpractice or criminal activities, strict departmental action as well as criminal proceedings is being initiated with an aim to remove the black sheep from the department.

In order to erase the corruption from top to ground level within the department as per government policy, he said that an internal accountability system has been introduced and a committee under the chairmanship of a senior Gazetted officer has been established to curb  corrupt practices and oust such black sheep from the department.
