ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Islamabad police has introduced an internal accountability system within the department to erase the corruption from top to ground level within the department.

“As per government policy an internal accountability system has been established and a committee under the chairmanship of a senior Gazetted officer has been established to curb corrupt officers/ officials from the department,” the official source said here Wednesday.

Besides, he said a complaint cell is already functional at the office of SSP, Islamabad where, the aggrieved persons can submit their applications and same are being entertained accordingly.

Enquiries are being held on such kinds of applications under relevant provisions of law and delinquent officers are being dealt with departmentally as well as recommended for criminal proceedings by the courts of law.

In order to make Islamabad Police professional, the source said that officials showing better performance are being consoled/appreciated with commendation certificate and cash rewards whereas, on the other hand, if anyone is found involved in the malpractice or criminal activities, strict departmental action as well as criminal proceedings is being initiated with an aim to remove the black sheep from the department.

Under the government policy and directions of Ministry of Interior, the SHOs are being deployed purely on merits without any political or any other interference so that the officers deployed on merit could perform their duties strictly in accordance with law without fear or favour.
