ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Wednesday commemorated the World Arabic Language Day at Faisal Masjid Campus in Islamabad.
During a ceremony held to celebrate the occasion, President IIUI Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh urged the Muslim societies to devise a strategy for promotion of Arabic language to have best comprehension of Islamic values and achievements.
President IIUI said Arabic was a source of unity among the Muslims which introduced them to their legacy.
Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh said Arabic language was imperative to be taught to youth and vowed that the IIUI would be found available in this regard to cooperate with all the institutions.
The ceremony was also attended by the deputy ambassador of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), ambassador of Sudan, Cultural attaché of KSA, representative diplomat from United Arab Emirates (UAE), Senator Talha Mehmood, University Vice President Dr Aqdas Naveed Malik, Dean Arabic Dr Muhammad Bashir, foreign and local faculty members and a large number of students.
Senator Talha Mehmood hailed the IIUI for its services in promotion of Arabic language and said Muslims had immense love for this language which was the language chosen by Almighty Allah.
He assured maximum support in terms of legislation or inclusion of Arabic as compulsory subject at various level of study.
Students presented tableau, skits and Arabic Nasheed on the occasion.
Meanwhile, a calligraphy exhibition was also held on the occasion where students showcased their talent and were hailed by the visitors.
