ISLAMABAD: Over 200 villages of Kacha areas of Kandhkot district have been inundated due to overflowing flood waters from river Indus.
In Sindh‚ the high flood peak in Indus river is likely to pass through Sukkur Barrage later today.
Chief Engineer Sukkur Barrage told our Hyderabad correspondent that all the protective bunds have been fortified and heavy machinery and flood fighting materials have been deployed at all the vulnerable points.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) says the marooned people are being shifted to safer places where relief and medical camps have been set up.
Moreover‚ the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) says the death toll in rain and flood related incidents have risen to one hundred and sixty-five besides injuries to eight hundred and fifty-five people.
Over thirteen hundred twenty-eight thousand people have been affected by the floods. Thirteen thousand two hundred houses have been destroyed and sixty-nine thousand nine hundred and four partially damaged in all the four provinces.
Thirty-nine thousand tents and sixteen thousand seven hundred blankets‚ twenty-four thousand five hundred and fifty mosquito nets and food packets have been distributed among flood affected people.
