ISLAMABAD: The federal government is planning to construct 500‚000 low cost houses for shelterless and homeless people across the country during the next four years, official sources said.

The sources said that low cost housing projects will be launched under the vision of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to provide home to each shelterless.

Under the scheme‚ three to five-marla houses will be constructed throughout the country which will be provided to the people belonging to low income groups on subsidized rates.

It is expected that after the approval from the prime minister, the scheme will be launched during the next three to four months which will also go a long way in creating job opportunities.

The official sources said that the ministry of housing and works is already working on 11 housing projects for government employees in various parts of the country.
