ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Cultural activities would be promoted in the Federal Capital by taking new initiatives, said Mayor of Islamabad Sheikh Ansar Aziz on Thursday.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of Society of Global Civilization as a chief guest, he said by establishing the Society of Global Civilization (SGC), founders of the Society had definitely performed a big task by taking up important obligation of promoting cultural activities in the Capital.
He said they have taken up the mission and responsibility which was direly needed in the city.
He also congratulated Dr. Abdul Basit, Patron Professor Dr. Inam-ul-Haq Javeid, President and other members on establishment of the SGC which is formally inaugurated here today.
The Mayor said that the Capital needs a lot of social, cultural and intellectual activities, adding the establishment of SGC was a big step in this regard.
He announced that being Mayor of Islamabad, he will provide full support and assistance to Society of Global Civilization.
He said that it will play an important role in promoting a good understanding of the world civilizations.
Earlier, Patron of SGC Dr. Abdul Basit welcomed the participants of the inaugural ceremony of the SGC.
He said that the objectives of the SGC are to promote understanding of various civilizations both ancient and modern and to study, research and discover various dimensions of world civilizations.
He said that SGC would organize seminars, conferences, workshops, lectures on topics related the objectives of the SGC.
Dr. Ijaz Shafi Gilani, Chairman Gallup Pakistan delivered a lecture on the topic of “Hardware for a flat world: implications of global connectivity.”
The Mayor also administered the oath of the elected members of the SGC including President of SGC and Patron of SGC on the occasion.
A large number of people from different walks of life attended the inaugural ceremony of the SGC.
