ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Sheikh Anser Aziz has said that the main objective of the Clean and Green Campaign of the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) is to create awareness among the residents about their role, which they can play in making Islamabad clean and green city.

While speaking during his surprise visit of Markaz G-9, Sheikh Anser said that MCI is working on the welfare of sanitation staff in addition to provision of state of the art sanitation system in the city. In this connection, proper shades would be constructed so that the sanitation staff could be facilitated during the hot and cold weather.

Islamabad Mayor accompanied by elected representatives of MCI and officers of concerned formation reviewed the performance of the different formations during the campaign, listened complaints of the residents and issued directions for their on the spot disposal.

While addressing the participants, Mayor of Islamabad said that in the past residents of the Federal Capital always complaint that civic amenities are only provided in the posh sectors of the city while residents residing in low income sectors have been ignored.

In order to dispel this impression we have started “Clean and Green Islamabad” Campaign from the oldest Sector G-6 of Islamabad, he said.

Sheikh Anser said that cleanliness drive has been completed in Sector G-6, G-7 and G-8, adding that now cleanliness drive has entered into Sector G-9. He said that during this cleanliness drive, three days would be given to each sector of Islamabad.

All officers of concerned formations would remain present in the camp office for on spot and prompt disposal of complaints related to civic amenities including sanitation, street lights, parks and playgrounds, water supply.

During this drive, residential areas in Sector G-9 particularly Markaz G-9 would be cleaned completely. He directed the officers of concerned formations to ensure effective monitoring of the civic services completed in the sectors.

Sheikh Anser said that provision of facilities to the residents and cleanliness of the city remained ignored in since last many years. However, acting upon a comprehensive plan MCI has started solving long standing issues of general public with the consultation of elected representatives.

The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
