FAISALABAD: Police has arrested 15 Christians and charged 45 other members of the minority community under the blasphemy law for allegedly desecrating Muslim graves in Chak village in Faisalabad.
It happened after a local cleric filed a complaint alleging that the Christians had desecrated over 400 Muslim graves to occupy the land in the village.
The incident has sparked tensions between Muslim and Christian communities in the village and additional force has been deployed in the area to avert any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, a rights group condemned the registration of case and alleged that fake blasphemy case was filed against them on the pressure of the cleric and Muslims as they did not want the land allocated to Christians.
“In fact there was not a single grave existed in the land allocated to the Christians by the local administration for their graveyard,” the Human Liberation Commission Pakistan Chairman Aslam Sahotra said.
Sahotra demanded the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to look into the matter.
