ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A group of archaeologists will visit Balochistan for undertaking survey to preserve archaeological sites, establishment of museums and promotion of tourism in Balochistan.

On the invitation of government of Balochistan, the group led by Prof Dr Ihsan Ali Vice Chancellor Abdul Wali Khan University would visit various regions of Balochistan during January 2016.

Inter University Consortium for Promotion of Social Sciences Pakistan (IUCPSS) would play a key role in the said visit.

It was informed during a meeting of Chairman Inter University Consortium Dr Nasser Ali Khan with Chief Minister Balochistan Dr Abdul Malik Baloch here at Balochistan House.

Dr Baloch appreciated the contribution of inter university consortium for promotion of higher education and preservation of rich cultural heritage of Balochistan.

He said, Balochistan has more than 10,000 year’s history and heritage which remained neglected and unexplored due to certain factors and assured support of concerned departments to the delegation in this regard.

Inter university consortium and its partner organizations including National Testing Service would be greatly helpful in promoting higher education in Balochistan, he remarked.

On this occasion, renowned archaeologists Prof Ihsan Ali stated that his team would work closely with directorate of archeology and museum of Pakistan, culture department of Balochistan and universities for undertaking collaborative efforts for conservation of archeological inheritance of the country.

Dr Nasser Ali Khan assured that as per follow up of Gwadar Declaration signed by 26 vice chancellors during April 2015 at Gwadar, the consortium member universities and its partner organizations would continue to contribute for advancement of higher education in remote and far flung areas of country especially in Balochistan.

He also appreciated the efforts of government of Balochistan for establishing new universities/sub campuses and bringing about positive reforms in education sector of the province.

Murtaza Noor National Coordinator IUCPSS was also present on the occasion.

The delegation also presented painting to chief minister Balochistan.
