LAHORE: Aftab Sultan was appointed as Inspector General Police (IGP) Punjab on Friday by the federal government, a notification was also issued in this regard, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.
The newly appointed IGP was serving as Commandant at National Police Academy (NPA) Islamabad. He served as additional IG Finance and Welfare Punjab for several years before he was promoted to grade-22 and selected as the Director General Intelligence Bureau (DGIB) by the PPP government.
Aftab, known for his impeccable integrity, earned distinction when he prepared a voluminous report on the Bank of Punjab swindle on the orders of the Supreme Court. After exhaustive work, his small team prepared 11200-word findings into the scandal and submitted it to the court in June 2011.
