ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control on Friday informed the Senate that as many as 1,177 theft and 96 dacoity cases had been registered with different police stations during last two years from.

Giving details of theft cases during the period of November 4, 2013 to November 4, 2015, he said out of total 1,177 cases, 394 were challaned, 415 remained un-traced, 71 cancelled, 40 persons acquitted and 55 convicted while 297 were still under investigation.

During the question-hour, he said out of total 96 reported dacoities, 67 were challaned, 17 remained un-traced, one cancelled and 11 were still under investigation.

He said the government was making all out efforts to decrease the crime rate in the Federal Capital for which several steps had been taken including the Safe City Project.

Under the project, he said, close circuit cameras were being installed at different road of Islamabad and Rawalpindi with active participation of business community.
