PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Government Wednesday formally launched Insaf Food Security Programme (IFSP) through the Provincial Agriculture Department under which 1,068,000 KP farmers would be benefitted while farmers possessing land from one to three acres would be given 50 Kg authenticated seed of wheat free of cost.
Provincial Agriculture Minister Ikramullah Gandapur speaking on the occasion said that under the programme, farmers all over the province would be given the authenticated seed of wheat free of cost on which the government would incur an expenditure of Rs one billion.
He said IFSP initially spans over a period of three years to make land mark achievement in agriculture sector adding that under IFSP wheat production would also enhance to 186,000 tons and the Provincial
Revenue would increase up to five billion rupees.
Ikramullah said the provincial government has devised such a useful programme for promotion of agriculture sector in the province that would fulfill the food requirements of the province as well as go a long way in promotion and prosperity of farmers of the province. It would also help minimize expenditure on import of wheat from other provinces, he added.
