Situation in Ukraine has worsened despite UN Security Council meeting. Ukrainian Currency nosedive

Kiev: Situation in Ukraine has worsened at borders and at economical horizons as hryvnia (Ukrainian currency) further weakened 0.3 percent to 12.75 per dollar, bringing 2014’s loss to 35 percent. Hryvnia was 8.00 per dollar in January 2014. Political observers are of the view that situation will become further bad in case talks fail among envoys from Ukraine, Russia, the U.S. and the EU scheduled to hold talks on the crisis in Geneva April 17. If this meeting fails to bring any accord, then Russia can send 2 million Ukrainians to home who are working in Russia without visa or without work permit. There is no need of visa or work permit for people of Ukraine to work in Russia but this facility can be withdrawn by Russia anytime and it will be a big economical disaster for Ukraine.

Popular economist Lina Komileva in her latest report published in many newspapers in Kiev indicates that financial situation is very bad for Ukraine and there is no hope of hard cash injection from European Union.

Russia moved to the United Nations Security Council that held an emergency session on Sunday night to discuss the escalating crisis in Ukraine as the war of words between its western allies and Russia continued and this meeting resulted nothing concrete and things are pending for Geneva meeting. Ukraine blaming Russia to create problems in its Russian speaking eastern regions while Russia is blaming that EU and United States is using Ukraine against Russia and Russian speaking people and using force against them.

Russian ambassador to the UN, Vitaly Churkin, denied western and Ukrainian claims that Moscow was behind the violence, and told the meeting that Ukraine has been using radical neo-Nazi forces to destabilise its eastern region. His US counterpart Samantha Power told the meeting: “These armed units … raised Russian and separatist flags over seized buildings and have called referendums and union with Russia. We know who is behind this.”

On the other hand, the Central Election Commission of Ukraine confirmed that it is impossible to create 12 regional election commissions for elections of President of Ukraine in the Crimea and Sevastopol. EspresoTV reports that at a meeting the commission recognized the impossibility of the formation of district election commissions of Ukraine’s presidential election territorial constituencies № 1-10, № 224, № 225.
