Significant progress made in talks with govt: Qureshi

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmod Qureshi has said that a significant progress was made during talks with the federal government regarding setting up a judicial commission to probe the alleged election rigging.

Qureshi made these remarks while talking to media after holding third round of talks with the negotiating team of the government in Islamabad on Friday.

The talks were held at the residence of PTI’s Secretary General Jahangir Tareen in Islamabad at which Qureshi represented the PTI while the Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar participated from the federal government.

Qureshi said that he hopes the nation will hear a good news regarding an agreement next week. He further said that the decision to return to the National Assembly is linked with the ongoing dialogue process with the government.

The PTI leader said that only an independent election commission could ensure that free and fair elections are held in the country.

Ishaq Dar als0 expressed hope that the issue will be resolved between the two sides within the coming week.

“The dispute with the PTI is very close to being resolved,” Dar said.

The finance minister said that they have instructions from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to complete the dialogue process as soon as possible.
