Shahbaz expresses resolve to make Pakistan a cradle of peace

LAHORE, Pakistan: The British High Commissioner Philip Barton called on the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Lahore on Monday and held a discussion over various issues especially related to security situation.

During the meeting, the chief minister apprised the British envoy about the recently adopted national action plan to counter terrorism and extremism by all political and religious parties.

The chief minister said that terrorists and their abettors will be eliminated at all costs to make Pakistan a cradle of peace.

“The entire nation was united against terrorism,” Shahbaz Sharif said.

Shahbaz Sharif said that our security forces are carrying out operation to rid the country of this menace.

In his remarks, the British high commissioner denounced the deadly terror attack that hit a Peshawar army school on December 16, and said that the United Kingdom shared the grief of Pakistani nation.

The British envoy also assured the continued cooperation of his country to Pakistan in different sectors.

Earlier on Sunday, the Punjab chief minister held a meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Lahore during which they exchanged views on counter terrorism strategy and implementation of national action plan against terrorism in Punjab.

The chief minister briefed the prime minister about the decisions taken by apex committee headed by himself and comprising Corps Commander Lahore, Inspector General, Home Secretary and others to operationalize national plan of action.
