ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Senate was told that the allocated annual budget for the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee for the year 2018-2019 was Rs 3,471,300, out of which the actual expenditure spent was Rs 3,145,855.

In reply to a question by Senator Samina Saeed, the Minister for Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony Noor-ul-Haq Qadri told the House that the budgetary allocation is to meet the expenditure on account of boarding, lodging, and TA/DA equivalent to BS-20 officers for Members of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee (CRHC).

The minister further told that the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was constituted in 1974 in pursuance of Resolution of the National Assembly.

Noor-ul-Haq Qadri told that the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee holds 12 meetings annually including four major meetings for sighting moon for Muharram, Ramdhan, Eid-ul-Fitr and Zilhajj.

To another question by Senator Sirajul Haq, the Minister for Religious told that there is no proposal under consideration in the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony to establish Quran Complex in big cities of the Country.
