Security forces kill 16 militants in Orakzai agency clash

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The militants attacked two check posts in Orakzai agency on early Saturday; however, the security forces repulsed the attacks and killed 16 militants.

In a statement, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that attacks were carried out by the militants on the Shindara and Khazana Kandao check posts in Orakzai.

The ISPR said that 20 militants also were injured in clashes while two seriously injured militants were apprehended by the security forces.

However, four soldiers also sustained injuries during an exchange of fire with the militants.

The injured soldiers were shifted to the Kalaya agency headquarters for medical treatment.

Separately, the law enforcement agencies conducted a raid in the Shabqadar area of Khyber Pakhtukhwa’s Charsadda district and arrested three militants including a key Taliban Mohmand commander.

The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mardan Range Saeed Wazir told media that the Taliban commander Amanullah alias Imran Khurasani along with two other militants Samiullah alias Abu Bakar and Roohullah was arrested.

The DIG Mardan said that about 150 kilograms of explosives were also recovered from the arrested militants.
